Hey there,

So last night was the Standing Ovations 2 Concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS at Joe's Pub, produced by Robert Diamond and BroadwayWorld.com, ably assisted by Craig Brockman.

It was truly a magnificent evening. Liz Callaway amazed me...the woman hasn't been terribly present in the Broadway community in the past decade or so, but somehow her voice has only gotten more magical. And Ellen Greene brought some brilliance to her trademark "Somewhere that's Green." Amazing performances all around, truly. So congrats to all!

It's nice to have a tiny break right now...it seems I've been non stop for 3 weeks. I now have some time to sit back and evaluate a lot that's happened in my life in recent weeks. So that will be a welcome change...

Hope you are all well. I did some recording this week for Pokemon which should air in January I've been told on the WB. Keep your ears open.

Hey there,

Just made an announcement about the PIPPIN concert...

Darius de Haas, Billy Porter and Raul Esparza will be among the Leading Players for the Pippin Concert on November 29th...I can't tell you how happy this makes me. We will be making more casting announcements in coming weeks.

(ADDENDUM: A few hours after the press release was sent out, I was informed by some of the websites that had posted it, that Mr. Esparza's manager had emailed them telling them that he was unavailable for the concert. I was really confused as Raul had committed to the event several months back, and I'd spoken to him just a few weeks prior at a party about his participation again, and all seemed fine. But nonetheless, he was cast in a film which will be shooting during the same time as Pippin and the rehearsals for it. I just hadn't been notified about it so unfortunately the press release went out without my having that information. I'm sorry to have gotten anyone's hopes up and hope to have announcements of the other casting a little later on).

I also did some recording today for Pokemon (which won't air until January or February on the WB), but nonetheless, I'm happy about that.

It's been a rough day for me for personal reasons, but all will be fine in time...I know that. Just kind of sad right now...I try not to get terribly personal in my blog as I find that kind of obnoxious in other people's blogs...but yeah...not feelin so great...I should go to bed.

Hope you are all doing well.

WOW! Finally a second to breathe!!!

What a week! So I spent last week in Los Angeles putting together the Broadway PRO benefit for Parkinson's Resource Organization. It was truly a fantastic time...the honoree, Jo Rosen made the evening a smashing success. The cast, which I cannot thank enough, was outstanding. I had the opportunity to work with some people I'd never imagined I'd be able to work with.

Lea Thompson was devastatingly nervous backstage before going on, as she hadn't sung since Cabaret in NYC. She looked at me and said "If you can go out there wearing a skirt, I can certainly get up and do this." She was phenomenal...knocked everyone's socks off. Adrian Zmed sang "The Hardest Part of Love" from CHILDREN OF EDEN, an obvious favorite of mine. Malcolm Gets, about 4 hours from wrapping on a new film and on probably about 32 minutes of sleep, sang the hell out of "Suddenly Seymour," along with Lea and also hit a homerun with "The Caveman Song", by Pete Mills. Jodie Langel,(if you don't know her already, you will) started the evening off with Bucchino's "Grateful." She also wrote MAKING IT ON BROADWAY-an amazing new book for all young people moving to NYC to make it on the Great White Way. Who else? Oh of course, Erin Quill (who also put me in contact with a lot of LA people), brought the house down with "Life of the Party," and then later on with Avenue Q's "The More you Ruv Someone," after a comic intro from the brilliantly funny Alec Mapa. Jack Plotnick (from one of my favorite films, GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS) sang "I Love a Film Cliche" with about 3 dozen spot-on impersonations. Matt Zarley, easily one of the most attractive men in musical theatre, sang the hell out of "What is it about her" as well as Billy Porter's "Time." Ms. Deborah Gibson opened another show about 20 minutes away, drove to our show, jumped onstage, sang "I'd Rather Leave While I'm in Love," and did just that...she had to drive back to the other concert for the finale! And of course my dear friend, Daisy Eagan belted the hell out of "Broadway Baby." I don't know what she's been doing in LA, but her voice was the best I'd ever heard it...off the hook. And then there's Susan Egan, who's new Coffeehouse CD sold a lot of copies after she performed "Taylor," and "Gimme, Gimme" to some of the most rousing applause of the evening. All of this was musically directed by the BRILLIANT Tom Griep-If you are in LA and need some coaching or MDing, let me know and I will gladly put you in touch, he's clearly the best out there!

Then there was last night...SHAMELESS! The Life and Times of Laura Bell Bundy at Joe's Pub. Laura was in top form, despite some video clip flaws, the show was fantastic. Stay tuned for additional dates!!!

This week, I am doing a LOT of recording...so keep your ears on the Fox Box on Saturday Mornings!

That's about it for now...Standing Ovations 2 at Joe's Pub on Sunday! It's sold out, so I hope you've got your tickets!!!

Love, Jamie

So overall, it was a fantastic time
