Hey there!
I'm very excited to announce PIPPIN!! Officially as this year's World AIDS Day Concert. Despite the fact that it won't be happening ON World AIDS Day, well...you get the point. It doesn't look so pretty here, but checkout what Rob at BroadwayWorld.com did to make it look so nice!
Rob's partner-in-crime at BroadwayWorld.com, Craig announced SHAMELESS:The Life and Times of Laura Bell Bundy, so check that story out as well!
So, yes...I'm busy...and I will be on a boat in the Atlantic for all of next week. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be without my cell phone for a whole week! A real vacation...FINALLY!
In other news...I'm tired...and I'm going to bed...there is no other news for tonight. Hope you are all well!
Much Love,
Jamie
WORLD AIDS DAY CONCERT
OF STEPHEN SCHWARTZ’S PIPPIN
TO BENEFIT THE NATIONAL AIDS FUND
AND THE STORM THEATRE
On November 29th, 2004, to commemorate World AIDS Day, one of this year’s most exciting theatrical events will take place: a star-studded concert presentation of Stephen Schwartz’s acclaimed musical, PIPPIN.
Pippin, which opened on Broadway on October 23, 1972, tells the story of a young man searching for ultimate fulfillment and his “corner of the sky.” While flanked with decision after decision, Pippin maneuvers his way with the help of the Leading Player (the role which won Ben Vereen a Tony Award in 1973). The show was nominated for 11 Tony Awards and ran for 1944 performances. To this day, it remains one of the most revisited musicals in the country-with hundreds of professional and amateur productions every year.
The concert will be produced by the same team that brought you the New York City Professional premiere of Stephen Schwartz’s Children of Eden last year (also commemorating World AIDS Day). Kate Shindle (Stepford Wives, Broadway’s Cabaret, Miss America 1998) and Jamie McGonnigal, (Snoopy! In Concert, Embrace! for The Matthew Shepard Foundation, Standing Ovations at Joe’s Pub for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS) will again be assembling a star-studded cast and choir under the musical direction of Mark Hartman (Avenue Q, Children of Eden, Finian’s Rainbow).
As with last year’s concert, the proceeds will be benefiting The National AIDS Fund, which supports nearly 400 community based organizations and agencies nationally, doing battle in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The National AIDS Fund also promotes educational efforts to effectively stop the spread of the virus. This is especially important when newly released data states that in 2003, there were 5 million new HIV infections and an unprecedented 3 million deaths from AIDS.
The co-benefactor and co-presenter of the event is The Storm Theatre. Founded in 1997 as a non-profit theatre company, The Storm has been producing new and classic works that offer audiences compelling documentation of what it means to be human. While struggling after the effects of 9/11, they are just beginning to re-emerge as one of New York’s most exciting success stories.
Tickets for Pippin will go on sale in mid-October and sponsorship opportunities are available by emailing PippinConcert@aol.com.

Happy 4th!!!
Hope everyone is wonderful! I've been doing well. I spent much of my weekend re-doing my apartment...and by "re-doing my apartment," I mean moving furniture around, throwing some out and replacing it with some lovely street finds. Someone in my building must have left in the middle of the night or something, since there was some really nice furniture and homey type pieces on the curb. Someday I'll buy some furniture, but until then, I am LOVING finding great stuff in the trash..
In the meantime, I am having a GREAT time working with Laura Bell on her one woman show. It's going to be a great performance and I'm really proud of the work we've already done. I am also getting ready for the cruise...Did I mention I'm going on a cruise? Mick and I are going on Rosie O'Donnell's Family cruise next week. I'm going to be reporting back to BroadwayWorld.com with a daily journal of my adventures at sea. So keep posted over there.
While I am gone, however, the Front and Center Series will continue on July 12th with BARE'S BACK- a concert featuring the cast of the pop opera, BARE. There will be an encore presentation on July 30th as well. I think both evenings are sold-out, but nonetheless, hope some of you already bought your tickets!
That's about it for now I think! Talk to ya later!
Love, Jamie
